Alpine Sports and Knee Injuries: How can we help?

If you enjoy skiing or snowboarding, it probably doesn’t surprise you that the knees are getting a lot of attention in alpine sports research. As with any sport, biomechanical factors are important for elite alpine ski performance,4 and having excellent control of your knees is no exception. The knees are almost always working — usually bent during an entire run, with muscles working especially hard while turning.2 And of course, depending on the event, skiers have to land jumps from impressive heights.
